Starting from Scratch
For Medier’s display team, Voluum was the starting point. Before Voluum, Medier’s display team had no central place to see how campaigns were performing across networks, and no clean way to connect that performance data to their affiliate system, Referon.
The growing challenges of running campaigns across such a diverse set of traffic sources such as direct display, ad networks, DSPs, social media forced them to seek a solution.
The core problem was technical but had real operational consequences: the need to pass click ID reliably between ad networks and the affiliate system. Getting click ID parameters to pass correctly through the funnel required careful setup. Without that working reliably, the data couldn’t be trusted, and without trustworthy data, optimization was largely guesswork.
They needed something they could implement without prior tracking experience, get support when things got complicated, and actually use day to day without it becoming a burden.
Choosing Voluum
The team had come across Voluum while researching other tracking solutions. What pushed them toward Voluum came down to three things:
- The pricing was competitive and scaled predictably
- The support reputation was strong enough to matter for a first-time implementation
- The interface was accessible enough for a team adopting a tracker for the first time.
For an agency covering 150 brands, unpredictable costs and a steep learning curve were genuine risks. Voluum addressed both.
What Changed Once It Was Running
Once the integration with Referon was set up correctly, the difference was immediate. The team could see the full funnel in one place: impressions and clicks at the top, registrations and first-time deposits further down. For iGaming campaigns, where FTDs are the metric that matters, having that visibility without switching between systems changed how the team worked.
Placements that weren’t converting got cut. Bot traffic became identifiable rather than being an invisible force that drains the budget and pollutes the reports. Thanks to Voluum Automizer API integrations, the time for manual data aggregation, which had been eating around 40% of reporting time, dropped significantly.
The team didn’t just work faster; they had capacity for more. A 35% increase in the number of campaigns they could manage simultaneously came directly from not spending time piecing together data by hand.
The Results
Six months after implementation, Medier has seen a 20% increase in sales and leads, a 15% reduction in costs from cutting non-converting placements and filtering out bot traffic, a 40% drop in time spent on manual data aggregation, and a 35% gain in team capacity. Workflow efficiency, by their own measure, improved by 50%.
